Equally important is a cool down after a workout routine, which not only stretches the muscles and relaxes the joints, but also gets rid of the lactic acid which collects in the joints and is one of the main reasons for arthritis and joint aches.
Even if the joint pain is not a result of over exertion or injury, it is advisable to wear joint pads such as knee caps, elbow and ankle caps. These precautionary measures absorb any shock arising out of sudden movements to prevent further injury.
